Almond Butter + Berry Smoothie


Smoothies are a daily occurrence around here, and while we like to mix it up and try new flavors, I have some tried an true recipes that we always reach for. Need a refreshing afternoon treat? Just blend coconut water with some frozen mango or strawberries. Need a quick and easy breakfast or light lunch? Whip up this almond butter and berry smoothie. It is filling, delicious, and packed with protein and superfoods to keep you full. It is one of our favorites!

Here's what you'll need for ~ 4 six ounce smoothies

  • 2 cups almond milk (or other milk of your choice)

  • 1 apple, core removed and cut into 6-8 pieces

  • 1/2 -3/4 cup frozen strawberries

  • 2 TBSP almond butter

  • 3 TBSP rolled oats

  • 1TBSP chia seeds

Place all ingredients in the blender and blend for 2 minutes. Enjoy!

Little Edits: Smoothies have gotten a bad rap for being laden with sugar, mainly due to them being made with all fruit and fruit juice, but they can be a really great way to incorporate healthy food that you might not otherwise eat. Chia seeds, flax seeds, spinach, kale, and even cauliflower (yes, cauliflower!) can be added to smoothies to keep the sugars down and make it a filling, nutritious snack or meal. Try to pick just one new superfood and find ways to add it in to your smoothies.
